Double-clicking a thumbnail in the Browser should launch: four options are available here: Preview, Develop, Editor, Viewer. This option also controls what happens when you press [Enter] when a thumbnail is selected in the Browser.
When displaying pictures that do not fit on the screen at 100% (1:1) scale, the program must show them at reduced size. To set the method used for this resizing, use Bitmap display quality. Low gives high display speed, but low quality. For most purposes, the best option is Normal. High gives the best display quality, but it also places the highest demands on your computer. The bitmap display quality setting is shared by all parts of the program.
Milliseconds to wait before automatic previews sets how quickly Zoner starts to update the display after you change settings.
Default JPEG compression sets what JPEG compression quality is used when saving pictures.
Use mouse wheel for changing values in controls – this sets whether or not rotating the mouse wheel moves the values in settings sliders. This option is turned off by default.
Use the setting named Show Import automatically on attaching camera or inserting card to control whether or not the program automatically shows the Import module after you attach a camera, etc. Automatically rotate images to match EXIF orientation flag makes the program automatically visually rotate pictures to landscape/portrait as needed to match their EXIF orientation.
Expand Navigator tree to match open folder – When you start up ZPS X, the folder tree in th Navigator remains expanded. if you go deeper into your folder structure while working with your folders, the folder tree in the Navigator will expand as you move among your folders so that you can always see the position of the folder you are currently visiting.
Remember open folders in Navigator tree – When you start up ZPS X, the folder tree in the Navigator remains in precisely the same state it was before you last closed the program.
Use the setting named Always start the Browser in this folder: to make the program always start in a certain folder. Use the Browse button here to pick that folder. With this option turned off, Zoner Photo Studio remembers what folder you are in when you exit the program, and shows that folder again the next time you start it.
Program Settings
Saving, Loading, and Restoring Settings
Zoner Photo Studio is rich in settings for its various windows and for the program overall. All of these settings are stored in the Windows registry. If you reinstall Windows or your disk fails, these settings are lost forever. For this reason, it can be a good idea to store away a file with your settings for the whole program, so that you can later renew them. To save settings, click Save Settings…. Clicking on this option saves a file in the REG format, which can be backed up or transferred to another device. To reload the settings later on, use Load Settings…. Use Default Settings to completely return the program to factory settings. This restores the program’s behavior to how it was just after installation. Changes to settings are not reflected by Zoner Photo Studio until you restart the program.
Use the Reset Folders function to return folder display and sorting to its default settings.
Toolbars and Keyboard Shortcuts
These options display a window for setting your own shortcut keys for the program’s functions and customizing the toolbars for individual modules. This window can also be displayed by right-clicking any toolbar and using Customize Toolbars…
Use the Keyboard Shortcuts tab to change functions’ keyboard shortcuts. You can assign multiple shortcuts to the same action. If you enter a keyboard shortcut that is already in use, then the program automatically shows the name of the action that is already using the same shortcut. For more information, click here.
Use the Toolbars tab to change what buttons are shown on toolbars. The left side shows available buttons. The right side shows buttons that are already present on the toolbar. Add a button, select an item on the left and a future position on the right, and then click Add. The item is then added at the selected position. Removing buttons works similarly. To reorder the Displayed buttons, either select items and click Up or Down, or drag and drop items to your desired positions directly.
